Strengths of the Turkish HVAC Industry

In light of data received from the Ministry of Science, Industry, and Commerce based on information provided by firms, it was determined that there were a total of 3643 firms engaged throughout Turkey as a result of a survey conducted in the HVAC industry at the end of 2010. The survey comprised 46 products manufactured in the industry. These firms employed a total of 182,514 employees. As at the end of 2010, production of air condition provided jobs for 9,542 people and third ranked within the HVAC industry in terms of employment following pumps and boilers as compared with other products (Figure 1).

In addition, there were a total of 116 plants manufacturing air conditioners at the end of 2010. A comparison of the number of plants manufacturing products in the HVAC industry indicates that air conditioners ranks fourth after pumps, boilers, and heaters (Figure 2). In 2011, the number of firms manufacturing air conditioners was up 10% as compared to 2010 and reached 129.

A comparison of employment by different firms show that air conditioners represent the third largest group in the HVAC industry with 82 men/piece at the end of 2010 after water heaters and gas-fired combi boilers (Figure 3).
